This Midlands loft conversion preserved the existing roof shape, focusing on optimising the interior space with structural flooring with the addition of 2 manual VELUX windows.
The bespoke staircase was custom-designed to fit seamlessly to maximise space, making it both a practical and aesthetic asset. The clients requested a ‘his’ and ‘hers’ two room conversion with ensuite, to allow space for each of their hobbies. The primary space was utilised as a sewing room.
The VELUX roof windows optimised the natural light which enhanced the artificial lighting, perfect for close up work to prevent eye strain.
Although the client wanted a hobby room for her clothes making, this loft conversion is a fully signed off habitable room*, it can also be used as any habitable room, eg bedroom, office, gym.
Interlinking smoke detectors in every room and LED spot lights throughout.
*Habitable room. Approved and signed off by building control. Structural floor, stairs comply with the latest regulations, suitable escape route, including fire escape windows, misting system if necessary and sufficient mains interlinking smoke and heat detectors.
